Not sure how many people turned out tonight but I'd gues 3 to 4,000 plus. Those who drove over had to park way out in the open fields on Bonnie Brea. Thousands of students turned out, maybe the most I've ever seen? Which is one of the reasons why the university needs to continue to promote this as one of it's top events of the season. Everyone seemed to be having a great time.

Only problem I had heard about was there was nothing to drink? Anyone else confirm this? I got to fire Boomer off for the lighting of the stack and took pictures the whole time so I never tried to eat or anything.

The Talons did a fantastic job building the stack this past week considering they had limitations placed on them this year due to the drought conditions. (Still shaking head on that) Denton sent an engine company that provided a good giggle for me. (Dear Denton Chief: You can't pump and roll with an engine, as your crew found out tonight when they had to make haste and move it quickly to prevent the paint from melting off from their original placement at the start of the fire. Please send something more suited for hitting hot spots off road that can also roll and pump when it needs to such a brush truck)

Here are some of the photos I took tonight.

Good shots Rick. The turnout was fantastic. Flickerstick was a great idea to open, I remember those guys passing out demos on campus trying to get people to go to their local show! I was wondering the same thing about drinks....The only thing that bothered me was the screeching MC for the Yell Like Hell, she was awful...It's called a microphone you can talk normal

Oh and going to the Mavericks scrimmage before all that was awesome. Kudos to whoever helped in them coming to NT! Wonderful opportunity and props for our university cool.gif

My son and I went to the bonfire last night. As you said Rick, it was well attended. The only drinks all saw were Monster drinks giving out samples.

Did anybody else here Dickey when the team took the stage? I thought his speech lacked any real enthusiasm. No wonder he can't get a team ready to play. He invited everyone to the game and asked that it be "rock n roll loud". I thought it would be a good trade off if he would show some "rock n roll offense" in he and Ramon's play calling. FYI, his welcome was less than enthusiastic by the people there. No booing that I heard, but very little cheering/applause for him. I will stop here, could go on and on about the coaching.

It was really cool when the cannon went off at the start of the bonfire. I thought the band was good too. Thanks for your work Rick!
