Sources: Sacramento State to apply to become FBS independent
The Big Sky does not allow non football playing memberships so Sac State is shopping for a conference in which to park its other sports. The BIG Mountain podcast said they were close to an agreement with the WAC but put a hold on that move as it appears that conference may disband. The Big West , made up of almost entirely state schools, could be an option as could the WCC, which is composed almost entirely of private schools. However neither conference seems to be beating a path to Sac States door. UNT would have the same problem if [ big IF] given the opportunity to move[ and IF it made financial sense] only its football program to the PAC. What to do with the other sports? -

Canzano: Next Pac-12 expansion bite getting a little clarity
Call me relentlessly hopeful, but I'd love to see Texas State and North Texas join the Pac as a pair. I think it'd be great for their long-term athletic future. -
