DENTON – Colt Mahan will have a regular role as a linebacker and on special teams after producing two solid performances as an emergency starter the last two weeks, coach Darrell Dickey said.

Mahan entered the season as a backup but was forced into the lineup after injuries to other players, including Phillip Graves, Brandon Monroe and Derek Mendoza. Mahan finished with a team-high 10 tackles against Akron and Tulsa, and he was UNT's defensive player of the game each time.
