DD’s followers always pull this out

QUESTIONS -

When DD was hired did they take him to another campus? Did he not see the condition UNT was in?

If things are so bad why did he take the job?

Why is he staying if things are so terrible?

You want to bet if the job opened up tomorrow there would be no shortage of candidates?

Look, I’m not saying UNT does not have a great need for improvements, but this should not and can not be an acceptable reason for the lack of competitiveness DD’s teams have shown on the field. It would be one thing if DD’s teams were running innovative Offensives or out of the box Defenses, but no. We continue to try and run head-to-head smash mouth schemes and then find reasons to complain that we don’t have the same budgets or why higher ranked players don’t come here. By the way, outside UT, Tulsa and Akron were not that much more, if at all, talented then us.

Because he was probably told that the job required him to be competitive against other similar programs. If they told him that he was suppose to have a winning non-conference record or he would be fired and then showed the schedule, he would of been crazy to take the job.

Why is he staying if things are so terrible?

Because no one has offered him a better job. No one is saying that DD is a BCS quality coach, but he has dominated the Sun Belt based on his overall Sun Belt record.

I agree, some people on this board would probably apply for it and think they have a shot at getting it as well. We may even get lucky and find a coach who can win the conference 4 years in a row AND win enough non-conference games to keep everyone happy. If such a coach existed, then I think one of our conference mates would have hired him by now.

Yes, they have lacked competitvenes in the non-confernece games. I think we have all been shown this by "simple math". That is why no one has offered DD a better job. If he was able to beat bigger programs consistantly DD would have been hired away from us by now.

But that doesn't address the question. Whether Dickey knew it or not, the fact of the matter is we don't yet have the budget necessary to be able to LEGITIMATELY EXPECT to CONSISTENTLY compete with teams we want to compete with (Tulsa, Baylor, CUSA, MAC, etc). Its increasing, but we have to keep increasing it through attendance and donations.

What we really should be doing is comparing our record against programs that have similar funding from fan/alumni contriutions.
