Don't look now...

We're 1-3 right now. It's not that inaccurate, but I have to admit that all 3 teams were teams that aren't cupcakes. Akron did well in their conference that's overall better than the SBC and they also served up some unexpected wins this season. Tulsa also showed their edge in their conference as well, and they're part of a better conference than the SBC. Frankly, the team is lined up against a bunch of conference champs except for SMU and LaTech.

I wish the team had done better in the last 2 games, with special attention to Tulsa, but at this point, all that matters is the rest of the season. From the play-by-play on Akron, the team managed well against a team it could've beaten if it didn't have ST problems.

Want another example of ST making a difference? Look at tonight's Falcons/Saints game. ST performance for the Saints helped get the ball rolling for a game that should've done the other way.

If we want cupcakes in our OOC schedule we're going to have to start playing 1-AA. There shouldn't be any excuses for a coach in his ninth year to not be competitive. This time Dickey didn't make any excuses.

Tulsa was manhandled by BYU and Akron lost to Central Michigan. I'll bet you're not going to find any of them in the Top 40. We were thoroughly beaten by both.

Yes, special teams made a couple of bad plays against Akron but so did Akron's STs. They also made one good play, blocking an Akron punt and recovering at the 5. We moved the ball one yard in four plays.

This was a team effort. We had some good moments and bad moments on offense, defense, and special teams. Unfortunately, the bad moments outweighed the good.
