A couple of thoughts (remove the post if ya need to):

1. Pass Rush: I dare someone to watch how opponents block our D-Line, I suspect that folks block our D-line straight up; allowing 1-2 O-lineman to remain free to block linebackers.

2. I hear football tacticians on TV speak all the time about the pass out to the running equals a running play in a lot of offenses. It serves to spread the defense, while getting the RB around the corner.

3. All those kids red shirting better be awfully good next year, since we aren't burning any shirts.

4. If a walk-on is playing on the O-line, then where in the hell is Ajanji Banks? Is backing up Lineberry soo important that Banks can't see the playing field?

5. As the year progresses, and if possible, please speak to the feel of the program. Do the losses feel any different around the athletic department; or are these losses being taken differently than OOC losses in the past.

Great podcast again.

another great podcast. I love it because I do enough reading on the web that sometimes I like to just sit back and listen to something. Production quality is top notch. I think it would be nice to start off the podcast with the fight song. Would be a nice touch... smile.gif

You know I was kidding, but if that Tulsa game had happened here, I'm sure you might have had a few choice words on the play calling and god forbid a coach would walk by on their way to the sideline.........round 2

You know it's a unique situation we have at NT when you can mention fans on the podcast like silverEagle, Firefightingrick, Emmitt, Medpilot etc. and everyone seems to know the person or know of the person. We'd all like the program to improve and for the fan count to grow, but you gotta love the small town feel of the characters in the fanbase.

You know for the off week I'd like to get FFR involved to tell a few stories.

Excellent job as always! Was meanrob sedated?! That was the calmest recap of a UNT football game I have ever heard from him!

Rob - You might have something on this weather conspiracy theory. Did we even throw the ball against Ark State in Jonesboro two years ago? I expect more empirical data from you though to completely have me convinced.

This defense will be special.

Hall went 17 of 25 for 188 yards that game which was when Quinn had his ESPN top 10 plays catch for that td. Still, I think there is something to the aspect of "Situational" when it comes to our playcalling, for sure.

How do you access the Podcasts?  When I go to link for the old MGR, I get the login page.  I enter my old login info and I get a page not found.  It also happens if I click on the "what is the mean green report" link.

      UC Davis to MWC

      SAC St. should eventually get an invite from either the MWC or PAC 7. The Montana and Dakota schools seem happy in 1AA and the cost to move up is high when you add the NCAA $5 million upgrade fee, $2 million entry fee[ MWC] , 20 football scholarships, and stadium expansions to accommodate at least 25,000 fans. NDSU has a covered stadium that seats about 20,000 ( I didn't check the other 5 Dakota schools) so they might get a pass.

      Mountain West looking to add NIU/Toledo

      When CUSA last imploded both schools were invited to join the MAC as a package. WKU was all in, MTSU was not so they were both stuck in CUSA. N. Illinois , certainly much to my surprise, is moving to the MWC , who might be in the market for another football only school. The MAC bylaws require their members to place all their sports in the conference so unless they are changed N.Illinois must find a new home for their 'others." U.Mass is rejoining the MAC so they probably will stand pat. I think the N.Illinois victory over the Fighting Irish may have gone to their head plus their fans are tired of weeknight games that make it hard to attend for those who live out of town.

      A Volleyball Coach To Consider??

      Hodge has us more than middle of the road in the AAC. We are definitely in the top 3. If it was not for a bad shooting night for our two top scorers against Memphis, we would be at the top.

      Who did better? PAC 12 or Mountain West?

      I can't disagree with anything you're saying if ACC comes poaching and we're sitting here with Rice, Tulsa, and ULM/LAT as our most local conference peers. If that is the case, and it's a somewhat likely scenario, we need to be looking into the PAC as a viable option and not hush-hush turning them down. If anything, we probably should be lifting our skirt a little bit to keep it open as an option.

      Power Conferences making their move to take full control

      Seems the b10/sec are so worried about making sure they generate the absolute most revenue versus their peers that they’ve lost sight of what excites people about college sports in the first place. Until one of them relents and settles for setting caps in spending, and potentially sharing revenue, I don’t see how this changes. I think that the power brokers believe that most current fans will just adopt their local big state or closest big brand and continue to follow college sports. Time will tell if they are right. For me, I will not. If it gets to the point where UNT no longer has a chance to be in the pool, my interest will evaporate overnight. Maybe they don’t care and assume that enough will that they’ll keep growing their own brands and revenues.
