By BRETT VITO / Denton Record-Chronicle

DENTON – Sophomore linebacker Germaine Dawson enters Saturday's game at Tulsa second among UNT players with 13 tackles and has impressed coaches after moving into the starting lineup in place of injured Phillip Graves.

Graves strained the medial collateral ligament in a knee during preseason practice, has not played this season and is not expected to return before the game against Middle Tennessee on Sept. 30.

Defensive coordinator Fred Bleil said Dawson has improved since opening the season as the Mean Green's starter at outside linebacker. He had five tackles and a sack during the win over SMU.
