Wow that is the most horrendous schedule I have ever seen. We should be 27-0 maybe a loss to UNC-charlotte.

Is Nebraska the only Big 12 team we can schedule?

It looks as if we are division 2....

Schedule LSU,AR, UT,A&M, TCU, TT, UTEP, UH,Baylor,SMU,

Are they all afraid to play us...or can we not get them on the schedule?

Rick V what is the DEAL?

Sure they will play us....on their court with their refs.

Hey look - someone on GMG is complaining without understanding the process...

What are the odds?

I think this story kind of sums up why we the schedule fell the way they did - we can at least hold off on griping until the season starts - maybe.

Sorry to quote Buford's post - he was making the same point I was - I just clicked the most recent.

personally, i love the schedule. yeah it is easy but we are trying to build a program here. we don't go play Duke at Duke and expect to build from the ground up. i wish that our football team could grow this way but unfortunately because of Title IX, that won't happen

I like this schedule too, with lots of regional teams but you have to be a proven team to say you have an easy schedul. for where we are at now these are the teams we should be playing. There are only two types of teams, temas who play for a national championship and teams who play for a confrence championship. i dont ahve to say who we are.

I don't really mind a weak schedule but PLEASE no NAIA or Division II.

I'd rather do a home and home Southland members or pay a SWAC team a little extra....anything but a 4 or 500 turnout for a NAIA team.

Was I complaining. You are right. I can't wait for Nichols State to roll into Denton. I think that may get picked up on ESPN 2 College game of the week.

I did not believe anyone in the world other than maybe the coaches and administrative staff would like this schedule. It serves their purposes in that it provides easy competition and is cheap. NT contnues to fail to upgrade the basketball programs.

I think renewing the UTA-UNT series will be good for both schools. Back in the day, there were some good crowds in both buildings. And it should get some good media attention.

If nothing else, looks like UNT should have some easy wins going into conference this year. I remember a few years ago UNT would play a NCAA-tourney level road schedule before conference...like 2 or 3 top 20 teams every year. Good for RPI, tough on record though.

Our non-conference home schedule has Texas Wesleyan and Angelo State for exhibition games, and then UT-Dallas, UT-Tyler, Austin College and UT-Pan Am once the season starts.

Why is it we can't get a home and home with aTm or Houston or SMU or TCU? We should keep rotating so we have atleast 1 big name Texas team at home every season.

(Yes I know we had Houston last season but that was not scheduled that way we got that by pure luck and look at how packed the Pit was.)

Great point. Why don't we have a home and home with TCU,SMU,UTA every year. It just makes sense that travel is almost 0. and fans can enjoy a game that may be closer to their homes in DFW. Also put Baylor on the docket.

The crowd was also pure luck and mostly UH fans since they were in town with their bowl game.

I agree with your thoughts on big name schools though - but UH was a perfect storm.

The point of my comment was not defending the schedule as the best one ever, but to explain why it happened. If we improve our program against what is in front of this year, teams will be more willing to play us because it will not ruin their RPI. The new emphasis on scheduling has changed the way everyone is setting their schedules. Look at A&M's schedule this year vs. last year as their expectations and profile rise. Win this year, then see what that gets us next year.

Win this year, and get more fans. The Mavericks can crank out pump up the jam during a playoff game or play wild wild west (both happened at a game I went to) and no one cares. They were winning.

Beating what we have in front of us is the way to go. If you care enough to post here and you are able location-wise, come support the team as they grow.

I would love to schedule TCU, SMU, etc. - but I think we need to work on being a more attractive option to them.

From what I understand none of those teams want to come here and play us. I have heard that we have had a problem getting any of those schools to come here. And we dont want to do the 3-1 deal is what I have heard, that means 3 games there for 1 back here, like the Indiana deal. Maybe it is 2 for 1.
