ha, he is not going to get fired in the middle of the season. he probably wont get fired at the end of the season. who are you going to hire? how will you pay them? According to CFO magazine, our Athletic Department lost 3.1 mill last year, which is good for 4th in the country. I imagine much of that is from all the development, but still...

Be quite clear that UNT is ripe for an up and coming coach, simply a winning season makes you a hero and will probably get you into the NO Bowl. Winning the conference well that is against the worst teams in NCAA D1A football. Better yet the conference champion automatically goes to a Bowl. UNT is in a major market so you don't have to move your family to some east bum F*ck town that has nothing else to offer.

OMG can you imagine if you win an OOC game!

On top of that you have a great Athletic Director going out of his way to help you every chance he gets. Being the current head coach at UNT you are in the best situation that any UNT football coach has ever had in our history.

So yes if UNT puts the job up for candidates we will have hungry coaches applying out the wahzoo, and it won't be for money it will be to prove themselves, and to put their names on the map.

The Money would take care of itself!

I like how you think.

I feel where we disagree is on how great DD is or how much credit he deserves. Now he has only had three winning seasons to date. A winning season almost guarantees you a Belt championship these days which in-turn means a bowl birth. At UNT we have had 47 winning seasons with 8 or more games played. 42 of those in D1 which would mean a possible 42 bowl appearances. A better gauge may be conference championships which we have 22 in D1 plus 4 outstanding seasons while we were independent. That would suggest we would have been to 26 bowl games.

The fact that DD has been in the best situation of any other UNT coach football in history is simple and in my opinion he has done the least with the potential at hand.

He has the worst record of any coach in UNT history with four or more years with the team. We are still ranked on the bottom, nine years later I expected the team to never drop below 80 in the rankings again, but here we are bottom of the pile still.

KingDL1, I agree with for the most part about DD.

He's an average coach. It's that simple. In a few years he'll have the program back to 7-5, but it won't ever really get better than that in my opinion. Every 3-4 years you'll have the rebuilding season like we had last season (Could also be this season).

You don't go to four bowl games by getting lucky, he will have this team above .500 come the next few seasons. He also won't ever win a large % of OOC games or ever get a 10 game win season. He's just average. For some that may be acceptable, but I want someone who can get progressively better and take us to the next level.

Thanks Mean'n'Green07

I do want much more, I want UNT to be a solid mid-major and hopefully continue to move up from there. What ticks me off the most is I expected the Mean Green to be a mid-major 12 years after we went back to D1a, at this rate it won't be in my lifetime.

I am not sure DD is even an average coach, maybe a just below average coach at least for NCAA Division 1A Football.

It's evident that you don't know much about anything except doing Laundry (the only thing a degree from smu is worth). You say the program is the cleanest in the nation. That Janitorial Services Masters program is really paying dividends.

We have Mustang laundry over here at SMU, I just put it all in a bag and the magic fairy cleans it and folds it for me.

This game is big for both teams, for about a day. Then the biggest game is the next game on the schedule. If any program ever has "everything" riding on 1 game, they probably shouldn't be playing whatever sport they happen to be playing.

As Rick V says, support and be proud of your UNIVERSITY. Don't support them just when they are winning.
