Thanks to the NT Exes, Athletic Department, and the others who helped put on the tailgate function in Austin. It was awesome to turn on to Trinity and see the Mean Green tents set up, complete with food and drinks. (mimosas, bloody mary's, and screw drivers were a huge plus!).

Woke up that morning and turned on channel 8 (while waiting for the women to get ready) and they were interviewing a few people who work for the University at the tailgate function. Great visibility. The reporter they sent to interview everyone looked like she had never done an interview in her LIFE. Turns out she was an SMU grad, which means it was probably her first time to associate with lower life forms (such as a NT grad), so I guess its understandable.

Anyways, got a chance to speak with Dr Bataille at the tailgate event and I am really excited about her being Dr Pohls successor. Total class, really sharp. She's going to put NT on the map, nationally. She also understands where athletics fits in that process. Our average SAT's are up on incoming freshmen (while the national average has declined), and we also just took our largest class of incoming freshmen this past year. Lots of good things going on around Denton...

I'd like to know her NT athletic opinions after watching that 56-7 thrashing. She comes from some pretty good athletic-program schools so I'm sure the uT stomping was a new experience for her. Welcome to NT! dry.gif

Dr. Bataille was grilled by about 5 board members at the Athletic event Friday night. Her answers were very political. When asked about the importance of athletics for exposure her response was that it was important, though perhaps not the most important. I couldn't resist asking her what the most important was she gave me the political answer of you just can't pin down something like that on one thing.

Overall, I like her at this point. She has a clean slate with me and so far she seems to support athletics.

I miss Dr Pohl. He was pro-athletics and wasn't afraid to say it. Pohl went before the BOR and pleaded the case for the new Athletic facilities. It doesn't sound like this lady will do that. Meanwhile, Dr Pohl is on the short list for the ASU Chancellor's spot. That hurts.

If you were watching News8, it was her first job. They wil only hire first time reporters b/c they will work for nothing just to get a resume tape together.

Hopefully her opinion didn't change one dammed bit. If the President of a university as large as UNT's is that knee-jerk (and short sighted) then she shouldn't have been hired.

Yall people need to take a step back, and realize what last Saturday was: a game that helps to keep the lights on. We used to have 3 of those per year, and now we only have one. That's good. UNT's competitive season starts September 9th, against SMU. If it all goes to hell this Saturday, then it will be time to form a lynch mob, but not after the number 2 team in the nation throttles you.
