Fifty in running for Doak Walker award

UNIVERSITY PARK – Oklahoma's Adrian Peterson and Louisville's Michael Bush led a list of 50 candidates for the Doak Walker Award, which honors the nation's best running back. Selvin Young of Texas, Jamario Thomas of North Texas, Robert Merrill and Aaron Brown of TCU and DeMyron Martin of SMU were among the area players who are listed as candidates.

Officials will select semifinalists Nov. 15 and finalists Nov. 16. The winner will be determined by a committee Nov. 27, and the award will be presented Feb. 15 in Dallas.
