--Was Todd Dodge really a coach at UNT... If so I was not aware of it.

--The statement about students being mean to football players seems a bit crazy.... the truth is that in HS he may have received lot of local attention and when he got here he was just "one of the herd", and that just bothered him. That happens to a lot of HS athletes when they go to college and now aren't considered anything special anymore and don't get a lot of attention or "breaks". We had a former HS QB here about 20 years ago commit suicide in college his second year and a lot of rumors was about he was no long the center of attention but just one "of the herd", I think he also had girlfriend problems as well, probably related to the fact he was no campus/hometown hero anymore.

---No we are not very optimistic this year, we lost 63-0 last time and since then UT has won 24 of 25 games and are the defending National Champion. Even Colorado lost to them 70-3 in the Big-12 CHAMPIONSHIP GAME. Our experience with top5 teams lately has not been good---UT, OU and LSU. Added to that, we had a poor year last season.

---The price of tickets are not cheap (for poor seats) and the odds of winning are slim....plus it is on TV. Most of us will just stay home (I went in 2004) and hope for the best. Thus tickets were sent back.

--The guy sounds like a jerk...glad he left......he did not even appreciated the "free" education he was getting.... I notice he did not play at UT either, would not surprise me to learn he flunked out here due to no effort, just expected NT to pass him for no work.... perhaps his HS had done that......

I don't think you could stress this enough. The seats they give to visitors at DKR are beyond horrible.

yes, they do suck. I actually had the opportunity to get some on the lower level near the 50 yard line and opted not, as I'd rather be around the rest of the Mean Green nation.

Im with Emmitt... I will show up to any close road game and support the team. I hate losing at anything- especially the way we have lost the last few OOC games. Still wouldnt miss it.

Plus, I wouldnt miss the unveiling of the godzirratron! laugh.gif

I'll be there just as I have for every game of the series, but I truly hope our perception of ourselves after the debacle does not carry over to the next week's real contest with those hated, arrogant horse's rears from the Hilltop. That's when the performance really counts. No matter what happens in Austin --BE THERE SEPT. 9th. Come early, be loud, be proud. GO MEAN GREEN!!!

What's funny is he is trying to "fit in" with the Teasips by bagging on a school that gave him a chance to play football and get an education.

Sounds like sour grapes to me. He probably didn't make the team and uses the UNT criticism as justification for why he left.

Good riddance!

Todd Dodge was the QB coach/offensive coordinator under Dennis Parker. He coached Mitch Maher and helped him become one of the best QB's in the school's history.

This to me is a circular argument.  I've always believed, and preached to anyone who would listen from the time I was a student 'til today, that if you want a better product on the field you've got to put a better product in the stands.  If our boys look up in the stands and see that few of us have made the trip (the short trip) to Austin it sends a message.  It says "we don't believe you can win."  If we don't believe they can win then why should they?  On the flip side, if they look up there and see thousands of Mean Green faithful it says to them "we are behind you 100% and we believe."

You have brilliant logic and as much as it gives me a warm fuzzy it's just not true....If we beat Texas there will not be a problem selling out against SmU, but if we sell out against SmU and lose people don't come back...winning breeds popularity...the conference win streak did not begin because we had a full house everygame and we didn't go 2-9 last year because nobody came to the games...
