This is the first detailed article I've seen on Patrick in awhile. It's too long to post here, so here's the link:

It's going to be an interesting Sunday if the Patriots don't keep him on their 53 man roster. Who's hurting for RB's? Who does he go to if not NE?

Wow that was great...

It is leaning towards him not making the team, but I loved the story.

They write something positive about him, but they can't do it without putting in the qualifier about the level of competition he's playing against.

People's egos (including pro scouts, coaches AND SPORTS WRITERS) won't let them admit that they just might be wrong about someone.

Its true, but even Belichick was quick to let the media know that though he may be running against 2nd and 3rd string players on the other team he is also running behind the patriots 2nd and 3rd string line, so that statement isn't all that fair.

Wow, for the situation that Patrick is in you couldn't ask for a better article at this time.

Now after the final cut an article about him making the team would be better.

I agree he's running against 2nd and 3rd teamers, but it's not like he has just average stats. He's putting up numbers that you would expect from a first teamer. He's proving he's better than the other guy's second and third teamers.

I think it's going to be hard for NE not to keep him. If they don't, I think the Jets might be interested. They traded for Barlow, and I don't think they're satisfied with the rest of their RBs.

Seriously, Dillon has looked old in every preseason game. I have no clue what he's like in practice, but loyalty means NOTHING to the Patriots organization. Belichek isn't DD and will not wait for hell to freeze over for an injured player to try and make a comeback. tongue.gif

I wouldn't be surprised if Cory Dillon got cut, thus moving Maroney into the starting role. Patrick may very well make the team. cool.gif

They would trade Dillon before they cut him. They are shallow at LBer and WRer and could get a decent player or 2 to fill some of those holes for Dillon. More than anything I think the Pats are hoping Cobbs slips through the cracks this year and get some experience on their practice squad so next year they can begin the process of replacing Dillon and Faulk with him and Maroney.
