100% yes. This is the Achilles’ heel of the air raid system.
To win consistently with the air raid, a deep defensive bench is needed to keep fresh legs on the field. Otherwise while the offense is high flying, the defense is absolutely gassed come the 3rd and 4th quarters.
No disrespect to Mike Leach but I’m over the air raid system. I want to see us run the ball, dominate the line of scrimmage, control the clock, and allow our defense time to rest so they can in turn make stops. This is complimentary football.
And let Eric's agent pound all his connections for an P4 OC job. If we can offset his buyout with a salary from another job they might be able to afford the buyout. And for heaven's sake stop giving 5 year contracts you can't afford to get out of after 2 years. MAYBE if you are hiring a proven head coach that built a historical loser G5 team in the South into getting into conference championship games and bowl wins you give that guy a 5 year contract.
“I don’t know,” Eric Morris said of how he’ll try to prepare UNT for a game against Temple with so much on the line. “I’ll have to figure that out.
“I haven’t done enough as a head coach to get us prepared to consistently make these plays. It’s not on these kids right now. It’s on me.”
Looking at our schedule with the 7 home games I really don’t see us winning more than 5 again unless our defense really gets an overhaul and surprises us.
