Tom Landry Classic at SMU's Ford Stadium

I just saw an ad in today's DMN for the 2006 Tom Landry Classic featuring Garland vs. Allen and Waxahachie vs. Highland Park.

While I know that "official" recruitment during this game is likely not allowed, what better way is there to get potential recruits to experience your facilities than actually hosting a high school game?

I hope that when/if we ever get our new stadium built, we will pursue the Tom Landry Classic and any other top high school game, particularly playoff games, that can get blue chip prospects to Denton in order to experience UNT's facilities and campus first-hand.

That is a smart job by the SMU AD. We do something similar by hosting the Nike summer league basketball tournament. While we do host high school playoff games, Fouts sure isn't impressing anyone. Maybe that will change when and if we get a new stadium.
