DENTON – Freshmen Chris Neal and Robert Gordon have moved to offense after being recruited to play defense.

Gordon moved to wide receiver from defensive back. Neal was recruited as an athlete, but said he expected to play defensive back until late in the summer when the Mean Green's coaches told him he would move to running back.

Coach Darrell Dickey said both players moved to improve the Mean Green's depth.

Briefly ...

Coach Darrell Dickey called the Mean Green's struggles with the center-quarterback exchange one of the biggest disappointments of fall practice Monday. Starting center Chad Rose returns, but he is working with a pair of newcomers at center in junior Chase Pistole and freshman Kelvin Drake. Pistole moved from defensive line to center and Drake was a guard in high school. ... Sophomore defensive end Tye Rexrode had what Dickey described as one of the best practices of his career Monday morning.
