By BRETT VITO / Denton Record-Chronicle

DENTON – Sophomore Ryan Davenport left practice after twisting his knee in a one-on-one tackling drill during the first workout in full pads. Coach Darrell Dickey said UNT's training staff had yet to determine whether Davenport only sprained his knee or suffered ligament damage.

Davenport played in all but three of UNT's games last season on special teams and at linebacker before moving to fullback this fall.

Briefly ...

Dickey said he has been impressed with freshman defensive end Draylen Ross since the former Fort Worth Diamond Hill-Jarvis standout made a belated debut with the Mean Green. Ross missed the first four days of fall practice while paperwork he needed to join the team was completed. ... Wide receiver Brandon Jackson, tight end Bryant Seidle, quarterback Matt Phillips, wide receiver Brock Stickler and defensive linemen Isaac Thomas and Esteban Santiago all missed practice with a variety of minor injuries.
