South wins, but North lineman stands out

By DAMON L. SAYLES / The Dallas Morning News

AUSTIN – Arlington Seguin's Sam Owusu-Hemeng enjoyed playing in Wednesday's Texas High School Coaches Association All-Star Football Game. The North Texas-bound defensive end dominated the offensive line and made big plays throughout the contest.

He did so much that he felt somewhat robbed when South All-Star defensive lineman Broderick Marshall was named the game's defensive MVP.

"For all the scouts that told me I couldn't do this or that, this was for them," said Owusu-Hemeng, who had three sacks and a fumble recovery in a 30-20 loss to the South at UT's Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium.

"Playing the best people in Texas, you can't get any better than that. I felt like I held my own. Once I get my rhythm started, it's over."
