Two questions:

1) I wonder if J-Mo and his learning disability had anything to do with him coming to NT?

2) Didn't he have problems with academics and thats why he was a late qualifier? Yet the article states that he was an honors student. Maybe is was more of a paperwork type problem.

I think it is more an issue of BcS programs wanting kickers to walk-on and try out for the team. North Texas offered the security of a scholarship.

um yeah, there were articles and articles written about how UNT had such a strong comitment to students with disabilities; and how much that played into Jamario comitting. I suspect that it played into Woodwards decision too.

I think kids with learning disabilities are labeled as academic risks (right or wrong); as I heard the same thing about Jamario.

If I remember correctly, Jamario has dyslexia. Dyslexics can be downright bright but read slowly because it's like looking at words in a mirror. I'd guess that if someone had given Jamario the SAT orally that he would have scored high enough early.

North Texas is reputed to have one of the best programs for dyslesics in this area and that had a large part in our getting Jamario. Technically, he has/had a learning disability but it has nothing to do with intelligence.
