You're telling me the U.S. defender Onyewu couldn't play any other sport?  Hmmm

He did say "most of the people" ..

Onyewu isn't MOST.

Emmitt I saw you at Trinity Hall for the Italian game. I knew you wouldn't know me so I didn't bother looking like a tool coming up to you out of nowhere.

If you're tempted to make it to Frisco for an FC Dallas game, gimme a hollar. We tailgate like the best of NFL/College football games.

On the one hand:

FIFA told the refs to call it closer to avoid injury. The coaches and teams were alerted to this. If you tackle someone from behind, you better get ball or it is a Yellow card. It was then up to the players to adjust their game to prevent getting carded on what used to be just a rough foul.

On the other hand:

I have seen some calls that were real weak that pulled out a yellow card and it seemed the red cards were handed out like free tickets.

The refs need to keep a grip on the game to keep players from injury, but they also need to prevent determining the outcome of the game.

The US needs to rethink their style of play too. At one point in the game against Italy, they were 20-7 ahead in FOULS. That isn't playing, that's MUGGING.
