If we built a stadium and hosted a big name then guess what the students would not get free tickets.

They are not free at any Big 12 Venue as far as I know.

Geez, do you not know that the student fees are one of the main revenue sources for NT athletics. In fact if more students decided to take advantage of this and went to the games; NT would be forced to build bigger venues to accomodate the students and maintain their outside ticket sales.

Our guarantee at UT is $285K, LSU was $400K last year and they would go as high as $600K on a new deal. The only difference is a turnaround plane ride vs. a bus trip. This is exactly the reason that UT had to schedule Sam Houston later in the season. They only give big time guarantees to competitive programs like Ohio State.

Are you sure about the UT amount?

Because unless my math is wrong, we could (in theory) get some 1-AA program to open at Fouts. And if we drew 16K reserved seats @ $18, we would make 288,000 just from the gate. If we did some decent promotions, we could get 18K to 20K and get $324,00 and $360,000 respectively (gross) from the gate.

I thought our "take" from Texas was more likel $500,000. No ?

And by the way, how does the "guarantee" differ from what we actually go home with ? If the $285K figure is the Guarantee, do we stand to make more if the Texas gamje should sell out ? (I know... it WILL sell out)

      It is sounding like UTSA, Tulane and Memphis are all going to be invited to the new Pac 12 and they will all accept. Air Force will join AAC and we will ask Texas State to replace UTSA.

      Oregon State AD: Pac-12 will look to add new schools quickly

      Everyone is going to have to deal with that when the decision comes. We might see some big shifts and maybe even some teams not wanting to continue/a split to a new division 1 for those teams who can. Those issues will come up despite whatever conference we are in. If the PAC brings a few AAC teams and offers a good chunk of money we should go if invited. If the brands of Memphis, Tulane, USF stay in the AAC, we should really consider staying as those schools not taking an offer means the move will be a lateral one with more travel.

      All the years we have run that system have not been fruitful, so we just keep doing the same thing? It's fine to take bits and pieces that work, but I would like to see someone outside of this coaching tree. I think it'd actually be a good thing to expand recruiting.

      3-3-5 is Great If…

      I wrote about our version of the 3-3-5 -- which is known either as 3-high, or 3-3-3. I think it has som e interesting things, and that we have improved. I think Texas Tech killed us and made everything we did wrong. https://www.meangreennation.com/publish/post/147907725 The best stuff we did was in the first two drives -- those ones where we still allowed 10-points and they ran with ease. Outside of that I think we were laughed off the field. The scheme can be good and our packaging/prep/personnel bad. Or some other combinations. Last year I thought we didn't have enough talent. This year we level up, but Caponi called a weird game and we were underprepared against a very talented offense with a very talented OC.

      Air Force Serious Target For AAC

      Best Scenario = UNT gets an invite to the PAC12 with Memphis, Tulane, and UTSA and makes the move. Second Best Scenario = UNT, Memphis, Tulane, and USF all stay in the American and Air Force joins to round out the military academies. Even if UTSA or TX State go to the PAC, this American configuration would be arguably on par with that PAC. Worst Case Scenario = UTSA, Rice, Memphis, and Tulane all go to the PAC12, and the American backfills with Air Force Academy and TX State. Things worst case scenario because the PAC will clearly be the “best of the rest” and the next media deal with the American will not be as lucrative.
