There may be a silver lining in our game vs Texas Septermber 2nd! What Texas will want to do is not show much from their playbook when The Mean Green takes the field this fall. Mack Brown figures he can run over us like so much Cow fodder, but the only thing that might upset his Apple Cart...is Jamario Thomas, an Adequate QB performance (getting the ball to Quinn and Company), plus agreesive defensive play by our 3-4, creating 3-4 turnovers.

Addto this, that Coach Dickey (not one known for winning or even competing in out of conference games) would love nothing better than rubbing our collective noses in the ink on his contract extension by beating Mack at his own game!

Poor Longhorns! If all this comes to be fact rather than fiction, the downtrodden Horns can only wonder what happened on their way to being throttled the next weekend by The Ohio State Buckeyes!

They probably will overlook us and it still might not matter even at that.

Our only real hope to "get to" their inexperienced QB early or to get some interceptions and get him down on himself. They don't have a QB that has played one down of college football and absolutely none at Royal stadium in front of 100,000 fans. He can be had I would think.

Well, I suspect they pretty much overlooked the Cajuns last year as well; but it didn't seem to matter any. They were just to big and too fast for us. One thing in your favor though will be that there is no Vince Young. He was just too much for the smaller Cajuns to handle. Still had a blast at the game; but it was definitely a "money game". Good luck. I think you'll keep it closer than we did and closer than your last trip to Austin too.

i truly hope that we can not suffer a blow out, but i think texas will be using us to practice for OSU. they will work their QB and new players in and have them play at the highest of intensity in preparation for OSU. it should be a good test for our guys and hopefully prepare us for SMU

Let the optimism of the green-tinted glasses begin!

I'll be more than happy if the difference in the score is less than 17 points. Hell, I'll even be happy with a repeat of the 20-0 loss a few years back.

Another 60+ point shellacking and I'll start calling for Dickey's head again.

Please DD, get the team ready to play respectable football and forget about this "let's get through the game without any injuries" unwritten policy crap we've seen the last two years. Yes, Texas is the big and bad defending national champion, but let's show up and make it a game this year!!!

A close game can win respect, confidence and fans; a blowout just makes everyone laugh at the thought of North Texas football.

No, the real laughter will begin the next Sat. if we get shellacked at home by South Miserable University!!!!! By the way it was 0-27 at the half in ' 02 not 0-20. If GG II longs to love OSU so much, he won't mind putting a few coins on those slow, Big 10 clodhoppers will he? I'll be more than glad to take his $$$, but I've always been a Texan by birth and never would I rout for a yankee team playing ANY team in Texas!!! smile.gif

Agree-- I never will cheer for an out of state team to defeat a Texas team unless they are a Sunbelt team or are playing SMU. ----100 % TEXAN

I'm pretty much on board with this philosophy, except I'll take Okie St. vs. either T. Tech or A&M.
