Seems Lamar Univ. has signed a 6-8, 280 pounder that turned away football offers at Texas and other 1A schools to play basketball. Texas was interested because the lad runs a 4.5 second in the 40. Can this be legit? blink.gif

A 280 pounder that can run a 4.5? That's not extraordinary; it's miraculous!

Once you get to that weight, 4.9 and 5.0 40s are considered good speed; anything below that would be great.

If this guy is that fast and agile, he could be a great running back. Ron Dayne was considered huge and fast and from most counts he was only 265 (in shape) and ran about a 4.65 forty. Unless he was wrapped low, one man could not bring him down immediately.

He may be a good basketball player but unless he's the second coming of Charles Barkley, he'd have a better future in football.
