I think the alums have every right to be upset. Gray obvioulsy is important to these guys, yet Nike decides that to either say "who cares" or not even ask the alums their input in the first place.

Im pretty much done with Nike's new unis... most of them look about as attractive to me as a prostate exam from a doctor with fat fingers.

the trainwreck of orange and blue all over Florida's uniforms are only slightly less offensive than the eye-cancer-causing uniforms Oregon has inflicted on the college football world.

"I don't know that jerseys ever lost a football game," he said.

Earl Bruce is missing the stupid point. Nike changed the color scheme because some snot in the marketing department said gray didn't test out well with folks nationally.

Well... SCREW THEM!

The uniform is part of the visual experience of the game. The 35 year old guy in the stands with his 12 year old son wants to recapture the experience of when his dad took him to his first Ohio State game. The 50 year old guy in the stands wants to have a touchstone back to the first time he sat in the stands as a freshman.

I understand uniforms change due to changes in material and the fashion of the day but you want it to be part of the continuity of the university community. You don't just scrap the look because some marketing nerd in Oregon thinks they can sell more jerseys in New York and California by dumping a touchstone that is part of the shared experience of students, alumni and fans.

No Kidding, I don't care if we win the National Championship I still hate the new color...we went from Mean Green to NFL Europe Green...

I love the new kelly green.

Now tell me this isn't a sweet uniform:

I like "Green"... especially the color used to print a picture of Independence Hall .... [ever notice our administration building resembles Indy Hall]

It is really nice when Ben Franklin in Grey is printed on the reverse side of the page.

It would be nice if UNT had a 6 year $11,400,000 contract to wear Nike uniforms.

Yep.... they have the potential to be on National TV a lot plus they are located in a market where they is a lot of people so even when their regional broadcasts occur, there is a large viewing public.

Ie. other words-- the rich get richer.... the more you succeed the more you appear on TV and the more money you receive..... And.... the more money you receive the more likely you are to succeed and appear on TV........ And........... etc.

Not as good but it helps to play the guys who appear on TV a lot as well, especially if you will be on their TV games....(maybe even if you get killed in the process.... it is sort of like-- I don't care what you say.. just spell my name right)

I saw some guys at lunch from Honeywell that were wearing badge neckbands with their old school names. One guy with an Ohio State one I approached and told him about the new jerseys. He immediately paid attention as he hadn't hear about it but said that was the first thing he would look into when he got back to the office. He hadn't heard about the color change. He looked concerned! ohmy.gif
