You beat us in a close game last year, congrats. But one bowl year out of five years of Sun Belt play hardly gives you room to talk trash to us. Come back when you can say you've ever dominated your conference.

does NT think it can make a come back after last years 2-9 record. alot of teams in the sunbelt are getting better.  cool.gif

I see no reason why NT can't come back. We were in every conference game last year that we lost while playing with the nation's third youngest defense. That won't be the case the next two seasons. What I don't see us or anyone else being able to do for quite some time is winning 26 straight conference games with 2 different QB's.

Middle TN ST (W) 14-7 7 points difference

Troy (L) 10-13 3

FIU (W) 13-10 3

ULL (L) 28-31 3

FAU (L) 23-26 3

ULM (L) 19-24 5

ASU (L) 24-31 7

No reason not to improve. All of the conference games were within 7 points. All of those games were that close the whole way. It wasn’t like UNT was getting blown out and charged back in the end to fall short, or visa versa. The last 2 losses were to the teams playing for the conference championship.

I would be concerned if UNT was blown out of conference games and did little in the way of recruiting. Such is not the case.

well we need to win OOC games. the conf. is stronger as a whole, but not good enough. the conf. winner will have 2 loses.

I kept hearing the conference is stronger every year? Based on What? There was nothing close to a good team in the conference last year.

I agree. there is no reason that we cant go through the conference the same way that we have in the past. the conference has added 1 reputable team (troy) and 1 reputable coach (schnelelelelelenbergerer?) its not like the sunbelt started getting top 25 recruiting classes. we still have the same players comming in, and so do the rest of the sunbelt schools.

I wasnt aware positive thinking by fans was what won football games, nor did I know that our thick-headedness would result in us falling to last place in the conference. Had I know this I would have popped a few anti depressants and fired off some rainbow-laden unicorn posts.

But I can see the point you are trying to make and I agree to an extent. Our frustrations come from a terrible season, but the larger part (at least for myself) is disappointment in OOC games. Our frustrations also come from having larger expectations than SBC. We arent satisfied just winning the belt anymore, sorry. Losing SBC games is about as bad as losing 54-2 to Tulsa, in my opinion. I dont think the Sun Belt has gotten better, honestly. I think NT has just gotten worse. As is evident by our dismal showing in OOC play and the fact that we still just barely lost the games we dropped in conference play.

NT may have lost OOC game by a big margin, but if you look at the conf. as a whole, OOC games were clooser than they have ever been. MTSU beat VANDY, ASU only lost by 10 to OSU, and FIU hung with KSU. FAU even had close games with OOC teams. the only team that lost every OOC game by big margins was NT. so why blame other teams in the CONF. for the sun belt being so weak. when NT was the only team in the conf. winning the other teams said hey we need to step up and get on board, well every team has stepped up and NT stepped down. wink.gif

which is what I just said. Our OOC play is terrible. Thanks for pointing that out again, it will make you really popular on this board. And OSU almost lost to a div 1AA school as well, so I dont consider that a very impressive feat. They sucked the first half of the season. MTSU was impressive beating Vandy. I agree. too bad about that first conference game of the season they dropped to the "underachievers".

Anyways, you are welcome to tell us how to run our program once you guys have figured out how to win 3 more conference titles- outright. Until then, I suggest you start thinking about how you are going to cope with losing to the "underachievers" and their "thick-headed, negative fans" next year.

I think most UNT fans EXPECT to challenge for the SBC title every year. I know I do. Last year was a step back, no doubt, and it's disappointing when the level of success OOC hasn't improved.

I fully EXPECT UNT to be challenging for the SBC title this year, and I EXPECT UNT to win/be competitive in OOC.

I also expect the MG to kick your collective Arkansas ass this year. The only "stepping down" UNT is going to do is on your hillbilly throats. cool.gif

Why worry about it now??

1. UNT has a new DC with a new scheme.

2. DD/RF are implementing new offensive plays.

3. 3 good QB's.

4. Good OOC opponents that will give us a chance to win providing #1 & #2 work.

We should know how the season will turn out by the end of September.

Win 2 OOC games, run the belt and beat the #4 CUSA team....those are my expectations!!
