I DO, THAT'S WHO!

When I went to pick up my collegiate plates, the guy at the window had his desk covered in tU memorabilia. When he opened up my plates to register them into the comuter and asked, "Are both of those backs still with y'all?" I said no, that Patrick was gone now". We talked about the game and how that it could be a rough one for us again but then he held up the plates to show the girl in the booth next to him and said "these are pretty cool though, good idea". I said, "yeah, at least I'll have the power of positive thinking with me everywhere I drive now.".

I'm still not sure I'm going to keep the "U" in the "UNT" part yet or not. I"ll see if it grows on me. But I like the plates. They are very bright and colorful and show up well.

Looks good Rick. How would you remove the "U" in "UNT" on the tag?

I would have some automotive paint mixed up to match, then tape and spray over. You could also simply place a State of Texas sticker over it that matches the one on the right side. I don't know, still thinking about it. You know how I feel about having a "-UNT" on anything?

These things(the plates) show up really well. I really like the fact that there is so much green on the plates. The flag is a magnet that our friend "drex" had made up a few years ago. He's always coming up with some great stuff for us. Too bad he's no longer on the payroll up there. We could use him now more than ever.

---I think that it is actually illegal to can alter plates in ANY way. I doubt that any policeman would do anything about it since there would be no illegal intent on your part but it would give them a reason to give you a bad time if they so wished. I see a lot of "longhorn" stickers placed on plates and it seems very little if anything is done about it. I have seen it in print that it is illegal also.

---Perhaps Emmitt or some one else knows more about it will post, but I would wait a bit until I had more info.

Sec. 502.409. WRONG, FICTITIOUS, ALTERED, OR OBSCURED [uNCLEAN] LICENSE PLATE.

(a) A person commits an offense if the person attaches to or displays on a motor vehicle a number plate or registration insignia that:

(7) has a coating, covering, or protective material that:

(A) distorts angular visibility or detectability; or

(B alters or obscures the letters or numbers on the plate, the color of the plate, or another original design feature of the plate.

In talking to my brother, who's a cop, he mentioned that as long as the word "Texas", and the license letter/# combination are not obscured in any way, most police will leave you alone.

He specifically said that he felt they probably would have better things to do. wink.gif

Emmitt has stated the same thing to me.

---Most---

That is the problem.... not the one that ticketed me for going 55 when I was going less than 30. [it was later determined he was measuring in KPH, not MPH and he could not recognize speeding, OR the one that me me a speeding ticket at 4:28 when the school speed zone that expired at 4:30.... It was after 4:30 on my watch which was set with the school bells where I worked OR the one that took a pot shot over my head at me one night and carried me off in handcuffs when I was on the job (I was college age, working at 4:00 AM and tending refigeration equiptment for Swift packing Co.) . He apparently thought I was breaking in.

Most reasonable ones would not write a ticket there are a few... good luck.

If only the rest of the worlds bells were set to ring with our own?
