Stanford Stadium

Site on Stanford's reconstruction of their stadium.

Some interesting numbers. Stadium capacity is going to drop from 85,500 to 50,000. By getting rid of the track and lowering the field the distance from the first usable seat to the sideline is going from 115 ft. to 45 feet! And the furthest seat from the sideline is moving from 265 feet away to only 180ft.

Northern California construction cost vs. metropolitan Texas construction cost.

I can't believe Stanford had an 85K seat stadium.

That is a nice looking stadium BUT look at how many of those seats are in the end zones. It reminds me of the old Arlington Stadium where the Rangers used to play. A lot of their seats were in the outfield with a smaller number of good seats between the foul poles. It looks like this stadium will be similar.

That's the price you pay for being Stupid, and not getting it right the first time. That is why ADLER has been consistent with reminding those who may have the power to make such decisions with our stadium, NOT to make the same mistake by putting so many, so far away from the field with that rediculously large upper section displayed in the plans for the new NT stadium. That part MUST be redrawn.

Then that would also kill any hopes of a real 1-A conference too.  He doesn't want us getting too close to his SMUt's level.    tongue.gif

If that's the case, and we are stuck with Fouts and ignored by CUSA as a result, then I would push for admittance into the WAC. Like immediately. This program needs to sh!t or get off the pot. Sink or swim in the WAC.

I do not think there is a conspiracy, just priorities of those in charge. We are going to have a new president soon. Dr. Pohl resigned to pursue other interest in academics across the country. In other words, he quit without having another job. What does this mean? To me it means that he was tired of something, maybe burned out.

I have heard that Lee Jackson is a very hard man to work for. It is also been by more than one person that his priorities are with UNT Dallas, not UNT athletics. A lot of what PMG says is true. He is not just typing pointless dribble. I agree that you do not need 3 pages to say what can be said in one paragraph. However, he means well, and is more connected than some of you think.

Mark it down, you will not hear anything about a new stadium unless you ask, and then you will get a political answer.

This would work at NT!!!

I think all the money will go to UNTD.

Once again, stadium funding, or any funding for athletic facilities, is all done through private donations. If alums give and state that they want the money to go specifically to athletics, then LJ can't touch it for NT-Dallas.

      We are going to Idaho!

      Way too early for bowl location speculation. Hell the playoff is still on the table for us if we run the table. And if all the higher ranked G5 lose more games than we do on the way to a AAC title we still might get in. Don't get me wrong I won't scoff at being bowl eligible but I want an AAC title game appearance to get excited about post season football. Far more people will watch that AAC title game than a random mid-week Bowl Game that may not have existed before rivals like UTSA joined FBS.

      Getting Close To Being Ranked (Army, Navy)

      I think the difference I have seen is the defense. When we went to Lubbock, this defense was in shambles. That's not to say they are world beaters or can hang with major programs, but I have to admit, they look different. I think the next 2 games will show a lot more.

      DCTF - Note: Teams are measured against the overall strength of their conference. 1. Texas Longhorns 5 - 0 Texas was idle in Week 6 ahead of the Red River Rivalry against Oklahoma. The Longhorns should be the No. 1 ranked team in the country by Monday afternoon. 2. Texas A&M Aggies 5 - 1 Conner Weigman and Nic Scourton led the Aggies to a statement victory at home over Mizzou. Texas A&M is 3-0 in SEC play and on a 5-game winning streak. 3. SMU Mustangs 5 - 1 The Ponies are in ACC contention after consecutive wins over Florida State and Louisville. Kevin Jennings passed for over 200 yards and rushed for over 100 in Week 6. 4. Texas Tech Red Raiders 5 - 1 Tahj Brooks topped 100 yards and scored the game-winning touchdown in a late-night victory at Arizona for an important road win. 5. Houston Cougars 2 - 4 A road win over TCU propels the Coogs up the list despite a losing record. Zeon Chriss looked tremendous in his first start as Houston's quarterback. 9. TCU Horned Frogs 3 - 3 TCU has lost three of its last four games after the home defeat to Houston. Penalties and turnovers are dooming the Frogs. 10. Baylor Bears 2 - 4 Baylor is now 0-4 against Big 12 foes in 2024 even though the Week 2 defeat at Utah doesn't technically count as a conference loss. 11. UTSA Roadrunners 2 - 3 UTSA gets a chance to right the ship in Week 7 against Rice. The Roadrunners were idle on Saturday. 12. Rice Owls 1 - 4 The Owls had a much-needed weekend off to regroup following the Charlotte loss in Week 5. 13. UTEP Miners 0 - 5 Scotty Walden's group remains winless after five games of his tenure. The second half of the schedule is much easier than the first six games. #13
