Smith Memorial Scholarship fund-raising

OK, it's not really a bonafide fund-raising idea, but why not ask for donations at the tailgating barbecue?

If we could make it known that the food and drink are free but a donation to the Andrew Smith Memorial Scholarship Fund would be appreciated, I could see that maybe raising another couple of thousand or so per year for the fund.

Not only that, but I believe that contributors would have a legitimate tax deduction because it its going toward a college scholarship.

I think this is an excellent idea. I think you will also find that some of the players would be willing and would like to contribute to the Andrew Smith Scholarship fund as well.
