Football: UNT to hold scrimmage today at Fouts Field

07:49 AM CST on Saturday, February 25, 2006

The North Texas football team will hold its first scrimmage of spring practice at 9 a.m. today at Fouts Field. The workout in full pads is expected to last several hours.

UNT opened spring practice on Feb. 13. Workouts will culminate with the Mean Green’s annual spring game on March 9.

The scrimmage will allow the Mean Green to take a closer look at their new base 3-4 defense in an extended workout. Several quarterbacks are expected to see action in one of the more intriguing position battles of spring workouts.

UNT won four straight Sun Belt Conference titles from 2001-04 and is looking to bounce back after finishing with a 2-9 record in 2005.
