This team photo has TWO #1 draft picks in the front row. There are also several others who went on to pro careers. One of the #1's is easy to spot, can you find the other ? How about some of the others who went on to the pros ?

Did I miss anyone?  Tells you what kind of players we get at NT nowadays. wink.gif

Perry Pruitt had a short nfl career, also Leo Taylor had a good career in Canadian football.

There is another who played on this squad (but apparently did not show for the picture) who had a nice little seven year NFL career. That would be Ron Shanklin. Shank and Barry Moore were our best ever tandem receivers.

This was a great squad that had seven members who actually played in the NFL. And, as posted, Leo Taylor had a pretty good career in the Canadian Football League. Also, just missing this squad was Len Dunlap, our third and last #1 draft choice, who lettered in 1969 and 70.

IMO this was our greatest team.

I remember Don Garland, #70, quit the team in his sophmore year during spring practice after Joe Greene, literally, broke 3 of his helmets. In his Freshman year, 1967, (this was when NTSU had a Freshman team and incidently beat the University of Oklahoma freshmen) the Freshman team lined up against the varsity team and Joe Greene broke 2 of his helmets. I had a couple of classes with Don and quite a few beers where he told me all these stories.

He never played football again. laugh.gif

Helterbran and Shook may have been drafted but neither played in a game in the NFL.

The other seven and their NFL careers:

Perry Pruett - 1 year Patriots (11 games)

Chuck Beatty - 4 years Steelers, Cardinals (34 games)

Glen Holloway - 5 years Bears, Browns (70 games)

Ron Shanklin - 7 years Steelers, Bears (72 games)

Steve Ramsey - 7 years Saints, Broncos (54 games)

Cedric Hardman - 11 years 49ers, Raiders (171 games)

Joe Greene - 13 years Steelers (181 games)
