By BRETT VITO / The Dallas Morning News

DENTON – Troy Douglas, who was on coach Darrell Dickey's staffs at SMU at UTEP, is interviewing for the running backs coach job this week, Dickey said.

Douglas coached running backs at SMU and UT-El Paso. UNT also has an opening for a tight ends coach. Dickey wants to fill both jobs in the next few days.

Just curious. What happened to Eric Pegrim? (sp) I thought he was interested

in coaching the running backs?

Woundn't he be a better hire from a recruiting standpoint?

He's never coached or recruited, so who's to say he'd be better at either.

Don't know if he would be better or not, but I sure would like to see an infusion of young talent with some North Texas ties in here. Mills is gone, Bell is gone so it would be nice to see someone who has come through NT on the staff.

EP interviewed before DD's surgery. Everything was on hold until DD's recovery. My guess is they're still interviewing coaches.
