WKU 97 UNT 71 Final

This was the first time I have seen NT Mens basketball team play this season and I was not impressed.

Executive Summary:

• WKU played at a much higher level of intensity than UNT, especially on defense.

• WKU probably played their best game of the year.

• WKU clinched the Eastern Championship by winning this game, so a lot was on the line tonight.

• UNT does not play sound fundamental basketball. They do not attack the bucket, way too many lazy bounce passes, other passes lack zip, horrendous FT%, bizzar inbounds passing strategy (EX. NT actually throws the ball into the opponents court 60 feet away when inbounding under their own basket).

• No answer for WKU Winchester who poured in 29 points.

• Lionel Brown is a very good basketball player.

• WKU has 19 NCAA Tourny appearances and a Final 4. It is unlikely that UNT can come here at anything less than 110% intensity and expect to stay within 20 points of the Toppers.

Positives:

• UNT's press actually worked.

• Big crowd (around 5,000 + 1 UNT Fan (me))

Hope JJ make big improvements before the Sunbelt Tourny. This UNT team looks promising despite the terrible performance tonight.
