Look at the quote.  He's not talking stipend.  He specifically makes mention of how aTm takes care of people, not how college athletes are taken care of in general.

Is it really such a surprise to anyone that players at schools with more money than the GDP of Saudi Arabia get paid to sway their commitments?  If so, I hope you never find out the nasty secret about Santa Claus.

What is the nasty secret about Santa?? blink.gif

Sure, there has been brushes with the local law.  But I don't recall hearing anyone getting paid at North Texas or recall us EVER being on probation for inapropriate actions.  Gee I wonder much someone would have paid for TJ "Leon don't tackle" Covington, a nickel?  A wooden nickel?

Rick

I'm not talking about brushes with the law. I don't see our kids with BMWs or things like that, but to think there hasn't ever been any minor improprieties is naive. I’m not saying it to put down our school only that we live in a glass house. My only knowledge on the subjec comes from knowing players when I was in school. Different regime then too.

---He commented on TV last night here in Midland and tried to explain his comment by saying that the school would try to get athletes jobs to earn money if they got little or none from home... Either way the guy was really stupid to shoot his mouth off. I am not that knowledgable about regulations about athletes on schlorships.... but is that not a problem also? I am betting that guy (and the coaches) wished he to could find a hole to hide it...... and I expect he has learned a lot about arrogance and attitude out of this deal if nothing else.
