Mean Green Announces 2006 Fooball Recruiting Class

DENTON, Texas (2/01/06) – North Texas head coach Darrell Dickey has announced that 18 players have signed National Letters of Intent to play football for the Mean Green in 2006. Among the class are 14 high school seniors and four junior college transfers. Of the 14 high school seniors, 12 are from Texas, with the other two coming from Oklahoma.

“We are very pleased to announce an outstanding group of young men have signed National Letters of Intent to play football at the University of North Texas,” head coach Darrell Dickey said. “Physically speaking, this class is very impressive. We have addressed needs along the defensive and offensive fronts and added a nice mix of talented skill position players. Seven of the signees are already 275 pound or more, including six that will be true freshmen. We stressed a need to get this program back in a position where we are contending for conference championships and we feel that the players that we are bringing in will definitely help us do that.”

I don't think Godbolt was offered a scholarship. Based on what I heard today in Denton I think the only two that they were hoping to get signed lettes from that did not materialize were Avery Curry from Galveston Ball (went to McNeese) and Phillip Tanner (no information as of noon today). The word in Denton today was that Curry tried to get his girl friend to agree to come to Denton. When she would not do so, he decided to go where she was going to be. Ah, young love....ain't it wonderful????? Someone posted elsewhere that Tanner had decided to go to Middle Tennessee. There is just no explaining the decision making process of seventeen year old children.

actually this is just completely wrong. O-Line men are usually the smartest players on the field (along with QB's) and as it turns out, they are generally the largest men on the field.

I watched Robertson in 2 a days last year, and I mistook him for Jamario the first time I saw him squirt through a hole and shoot forward about 20 yards. The guy is quick, hope he gets to see some time this year with Jamario.

I agree about Evan Robertson. He seemed REAL quick in two-a-days last year. There was another kid...Payne I think that looked pretty decent too. Don't forget about James Mitchell. Personally, I'd like to see a little more of Keronna Henderson at FB anyway.
