Quattrocchi returns to team

Sophomore guard Amanda Quattrocchi returned to the UNT women’s basketball team on Monday after a meeting with head coach Tina Slinker.

Quattrocchi was suspended for the Mean Green’s loss to Arkansas State on Jan. 21 following a violation of team rules. Slinker later made the suspension indefinite, citing multiple rules violations.

“I am going to wipe the slate clean,” Slinker said. “I am glad we have put this behind us.”

Quattrocchi has played in 13 games as a backup while averaging 1.0 points in 11.6 minutes a game. The former standout at Brebeuf High in Indianapolis is considered one of the Mean Green’s best ball-handlers and has nearly a 2-1 assist to turnover ratio at 15-8.

UNT (15-5, 5-3) is alone in first place in the Sun Belt Conference West Division standings heading into a game with Louisiana-Lafayette at home on Thursday. The Ragin’ Cajuns (14-6, 4-4) are one game back of the Mean Green.

Slinker said she would evaluate Quattrocchi’s performance in practice this week and was not sure what role she would have in the Mean Green’s next few games due to the amount of practice time she has missed.
