North Texas signee forward Curtis Muse Mineral Area College is shooting an unbelievable 71.7 percent from the field (including 3 point shots) this season at Mineral Area College. I'm assuming that includes a high percentage of dunks.

Total Field Goal Percentage Leaders (2's + 3's)

Athlete School Games Made Attempts Percentage

1. Curtis Muse Mineral Area 20 76 106 71.7

Curtis is also averaging 4.7 rebounds and 1 block per game.

There's still nothing to report on North Texas' other signee Jonathan Jackson. He played in a couple of games earlier in the season, but has been out with some type of injury.

Not sure what this means. Apparently taking less than 6 shots per game. It seems that MAC offense is predicated on shooting threes. The fact that he is averageing less than 5 rbs and only 1 block a game at 6' 10" is a little concerning, plus he has not started in the last few games per recent lineups. Seems he may be more of a role player than the dominating center I hope for.

Yeah, I had started to post it as a Good News/Bad News statement, but felt I really didn't have enough information to critique the guy. 3 other players on his team average as many or more rebounds than Muse.

Still, shooting nearly 72% is pretty impressive.

So far, I am not that impressed with Muse and Jackson. Hope they change my mind when they get here. But, I say "thank God" we have Wooden, Bell and Mangrum coming in. They will make a difference.

I feel that Howerton really will be our future center. Once he settles in a bit more and plays a little more fast paced under the basket he will be great. There were a few passes he just wasn't looking for that he should have in the last game. Other than that he easily plays with more intensity and is more coordinated than Barnett and in some of the games he has played better than Simpson.
