(Both players are receiving attention from college scouts, as Alabama and North Texas have been courting Hollinger heavily and Edwards is getting interest from Georgetown, Mississippi State, South Alabama, North Texas, Illinois State and others. )

We now know that Harold Edwards signed with the Mean Green and Brandon Hollinger signed with Alabama. One week later North Texas signed Lionel Brown.

At the time I remember thinking that Hollinger would have a long wait for playing time as a point guard at Alabama. The Tide already had a Soph All-American candidate in Ronald Steele at the pg position and had just signed Ray George, a Rivals 4-star Juco, to play point guard. There was a hope that maybe after a year on the bench, he might transfer to North Texas.

Wrong again. Ray George did not have the academic credentials. Chuck Davis went out with an injury. True Freshman Brandon Hollinger has started the last 4 games for Alabama on the wing and has played at least 30 minutes in each game.
