Erika Bobo Scores 18 Points In Victory Against Troy

DENTON (1/26/06) – Senior Erika Bobo scored 18 points to lead the North Texas women’s basketball team to a 71-46 victory against Troy on Thursday night in the Super Pit.

The Mean Green (14-5, 4-3 Sun Belt) extended its series record to 3-0 against the Trojans. Troy (7-10. 1-5 Sun Belt) is 0-6 this season on the road.

Bobo scored the second most points this season with 18, including two three-pointers. She dished out four assists, moving into third place all-time at North Texas for career assists with 299.

North Texas started out slow, hitting only three of its first 15 baskets, before erupting with 14 straight points to take a 20-6 advantage in the first half. Freshman Sanetra Jackson scored five points in the run and recorded all seven of her total points in the first half. The Mean Green held Troy scoreless for nearly eight minutes in the run.

The Mean Green did not let Troy back in the game, opening the second half with a 26-13 run. A three-pointer by Didi Wali capped the Mean Green run, giving North Texas a 26-point lead, 59-33, with 8:38 left in the game. North Texas made six three-pointers in the game, tying a season best.

North Texas made 50 percent of its shots in the second half, going 14-for-28 from the field. The Trojans, on the other hand, were 10-for-30 in the second half for 33.3 percent from the field.

North Texas continues its five-game home stand with a Saturday night match-up against South Alabama. Tip-off is at 5 pm.
