DENTON (1/26/06) - The North Texas men's and women's basketball teams face newcomer Troy tonight in doubleheader action in the Super Pit. The women play at 5:00 pm and the men's game will begin thirty minutes after the completion of the first game.

The Mean Green women return to the Super Pit to begin the longest and final homestand of the year. North Texas opens against the Troy Trojans in the first of five straight home games. North Texas is sitting in a tie for second place with Denver in the West Division of the Sun Belt Conference.

Sophomore Talicia Sanders recorded a career-high four blocked shots against Arkansas State and now has 22 for the season. Sanders has cracked the top 10 in blocked shots all-time at North Texas with 42 for her career. Over the last four games, Sanders is averaging two blocks a game. For her career she is 10th all-time in blocked shots.

The North Texas men has won seven of its last nine games and is set two host two Sun Belt Conference West Division teams this week after wrapping up a two-game road swing last Sunday with an 82-79 victory at Arkansas State. The Mean Green will play Troy, which is just half a game behind NT in the league standings, on Thursday and then catch SBC West Division leader South Alabama on Saturday. Every North Texas game can be heard live on KWRD (100.7 FM) in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.

North Texas received votes in the latest CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25 Poll (January 23) for the first time this season. The Mean Green received five votes in this week’s poll.

Isaac Hines has scored at least 16 points in each of the last four games and is averaging 17.8 points per game over that span. Prior to the last four games, Hines’ career-high point total was 13 and he had scored in double figures just two times. Hines is averaging 13 points per game in Sun Belt games only in comparison to his 8.5 points per game for the entire season.
