Dick Webber Classic

I know it's a strange post, but I thought of you my friend, last weekend while watching the Dick Webber Classic on ESPN2. Norm Duke is my fav, but I like Machuga's style as well. I really thought the way Duke took him down so easily he would go further than he did. I meant to ask you last weekend if you watched it but forgot. We don't get to watch much bowling on TV these days. I love the sport and have been taking the F5 whenever I can. As luck would have it, I have to drive to Mineral Wells to go to the nearest alley since they closed the one down here in Weatherford many years ago.

I would love to have a classic style, Mean Green bowling shirt but I'm certain, as I always have to do with everything else, I'd have to make the damn thing myself?

Rick, there is a really cool bowling alley in Cleburne that Courtney and I go to (her parents liv out there)... anyways, it is pretty much an old school bowling alley - none of the bells and whistles... they have the computerized scoring but it is basically a very crude program and most of the time you have to double check it. But that place is awesome for a family outing - It is called Pin Center and is in downtown Cleburne - next time you want to take the F5 to a REAL bowling alley - not one of those places that has laser tag and a freaking climbing wall next to the lanes - drive on over to the Cleburne Pin Center... you will be pleasantly surprised... and it is pretty inexpensive as compared to other bowling alleys (bowling has gotten really expensive these days!)...

I had such a shirt when I was on the NTSU club bowling team back in the day. They were the lime green - flying worm type bowling shirts, with North Texas State University in script on them. We went to Austin and Lubbock for tournaments and the shirts, while very stylish to us, were very distracting to the other bowlers! biggrin.gif Anyway, I think I've lost the shirt over many moves during the years. sad.gif

Hey, you can always visit the Cowtown over here in River Oaks! laugh.gif Grab a steak at the River Oaks Steak House, and jog back down Jacksboro Hwy to 820.

Whoa Nellie! Then you all go to the River Oaks Steak House, LongJim? IMO, the best steak in Fort Worth and very inexpensive as well.

Of course, out here in Weatherford, the Mesquite Grill (off FW Highway) is sure hard to beat.

I got to catch a little bit of the match. Norm duke is amazing. I am hoping to catch Del Ballard tomorrow on the show, he has actually helped out the UNt team a little bit this year.

I was at the bowling alley all day today running a tournament and go back again in the morning. As for shirts I don't have any more, but the ones with the team are generic polos with UNT in script spelled out. We had thought about getting some of the wild shirts but no dice right now.

If I run into any I'll look them up for you.

Yep, good prices and friendly service over there, PMG. Good value at the bowling alley, too. But as for Weatherford, my favorite place to go over there is the Malt Shoppe. My dad introduced me to that place, where he was grabbing grub in the '50's. We often stop and grab a burger there on the way out to Mineral Wells or Abilene.

The Malt Shop is the F5's fav too. Excellent, thick chocolate malts made with homemade ice cream.
