Little Rock, Ark., (1/19/06) - The North Texas men's and women's basketball teams are traveling together to Arkansas this week where they will play in two doubleheaders on Thursday and Saturday night against Arkansas-Little Rock and Arkansas State. The women open the doubleheader on Thursday night against Arkansas-Little Rock at 5 pm, and the men follow at 7 pm against the Trojans.

Every North Texas men's game can be heard live on KWRD (100.7 FM) in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, while the women can be heard on KNTU (88.1 FM).

The Mean Green men has won eight of its last 10 games and will play its fifth road game of the season, but just its second over the last month when it faces Arkansas-Little Rock. North Texas is off to a 3-1 start in Sun Belt Conference play and will try to improve to 4-1 through its first five league games for the second time in the last three seasons. The Mean Green is tied for second place in the West Division and is just half a game behind first-place South Alabama in the conference standings. The Mean Green played nine of its last 10 games at the Super Pit, where it is 9-2 this season, but will play just four of its last 12 games at home.

Senior guard Isaac Hines was named the Sun Belt Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week on Tuesday after leading the Mean Green to back-to-back league victories, including a win over SBC West Division defending champion Denver. Hines scored in double figures both games, including a career-high 19 points against Florida International, and averaged 17.5 points per game on a .600 field goal percentage. He came back to score a team-high 16 points against Denver, which also topped his career high prior to the FIU game.

The women look to snap a two-game losing streak when it faces Arkansas-Little Rock on Thursday night. Denver stopped the Mean Green's five-game winning streak on Thursday night with a two-point victory. FIU then came into the Super Pit and held on to a three-point victory.

what do y'all think these wins on the road mean to home game attendence? do think losses on the road will hurt attendence for the troy game? i think for the most part any fans coming out (new) to Troy probably don't know our record. but if we are in the thick of it all, i think it might help. thoughts?

I don't think winning will hurt us any.

So long as we play exciting ball, I think more and more people will come to the games.

I think as long as "we are playing for something" fans will come out. When rumor spreads that the team is pretty good and might win on any given night, it helps. Stats like "team has won 8 of the last 10" help to get the common fan to think maybe he/she should make it out and see them.
