Freshman's late surge lifts UNT

DENTON - Freshman forward Harold Stewart of Crowley scored North Texas' last four points to lift the Mean Green over Denver, 72-70, Monday night in a Sun Belt Conference game at the Super Pit.

UNT rallied from a 40-34 halftime deficit and was locked in a close game late when Denver's DaShawn Walker hit a 3-pointer to tie the score at 68with 2:32 left.

The Mean Green won for the sixth time in its last seven games.

Senior guard Isaac Hines led UNT (10-5, 3-1) with 16 points, and junior guard Kendrick Davis added 15. Yemi Nicholson scored 28 to pace Denver (10-7, 3-1).
