I don't think I've seen the Pit so alive in a long time. Kinda reminded me of the atmosphere Fouts had with the NMSU game in 2002. The students are back on campus and the Pit Crew was there leading the charge. I'm hoping this is the start of a trend for more people coming to the games cause they're so much fun to go to.

It was a fantastic game!!! However what is with the cheerleaders? During the Jason's Deli promotion, the cheerleader on the press box gives the box to someone wearing a Longhorn T-shirt and cap.

I agree....the crowd was definitely a plus tonight. It was great to hear all that "hooting and hollering" for a change. I have never felt that North Texas fans knew how to help the team by getting into the game. The fans seem to always clap politely, but tonight there was noise at the proper times and I think it may have helped us get those 2 points that we needed to win!

The pep band was full of spirit, the Pit Crew was emotional, the students were loud, and even some of us old alumni were loudly involved. Let's keep it up and grow into being a great basketball crowd like the old days in the Snake Pit when we definetly had a home court advantage!

Go Mean Green and keep it up Mean Green fans!

There was a group of fans behind where the Pit Crew was sitting that I hope starts coming to every game. They were behind us cheering and yelling and making the section louder. Every time we started some kind of chant they backed us up and helped get the rest of the Pit into it. I wish we had had this many fans at the Houston game, it might have helped our cause to get some chats in instead of just hearing theirs all night. That was definately one of the most fun games I have been at in a very long time (the Houston game was fun, but it was not our fans making it that way). If we can keep getting this many fans all in that section we can keep having an atmosphere like that, and maybe, just maybe it will bleed over to the alumni sections where people just sit and clap politely.

We really need to start promoting the hell out of the two home games at the end of this month.

Send 2 free tickets to every football season ticket holder.

Send 2 free tickets to every active member of the North Texas Exes.

If a raucous sellout crowd were to witness a victory in that Sout Alabama game, it will go a long way towards jump starting a program which has been somewhat dormant for more than two decades.

I really feel sorry for anyone who missed this game. Key takeaways:

NT executed team ball very well last night. They moved the ball around all night.

We won because we were more athletic, out-hustled Denver, and played better Defense.

Yemi Nicholson was almost impossible to stop in the first half. But in the 2nd half our defense clamped down on him (denied him the ball, blocked his shot, and stole incoming passes)(starting with big bodied Justin Barnett). They lost the game because their whole offense is based on feeding the ball to him Nicholson letting him shoot or kicking it out for a 3 pointer (which they are good at).

Kendrick Davis is like the second coming of Leonard Hopkins in terms of being a scorer. He may need to pass a little more, but he certainly can score!

Hines was deadly from the 3 pt line at key moments in the 2nd half.

I'm bummed I missed the ending. I had to go transmit photos. I honestly did not expect I win, but thrilled they pulled it off.

Who is this guy in the NT section yelling "brick" at the NT players? Does he have big bushy hair? A friend of mine knows this guy, he keeps telling me he goes to the games to heckle the NT players, and yes he is a student. Somebody should take him out next time he does it smile.gif

AWESOME GAME!!! I don't think I have ever left the pit horse before, but I could barely talk. I was sitting behind the Pit Crew with alot of the BYX fraternity and they were getting rowdy. For the first time, I felt awkward if I was screaming my head off. I hope the crowd gets out to next home game, becuase that was awesome. Great win and great job shutting down crazy Yemi.

ESPN says attendance was 2,012.

Great game!!! Drove up from Dallas with lots of traffic it took

about 55 minutes. It was well worth it.

I agree with ADLER. Something has to be done with resect to

promotions---2,012 fans is (even though the pit was rocking) is

just not acceptable for a D1 program.

Dollar hot dogs for fans----free hot dogs for students.

Discount tickets for Mean Green Club members.

Anything is worth a try--We need (loud) people in those empty seats.

i'm hoping they promote the crap out of dollar hot dog night against troy. then tons of new fans will see us clobber the trojans and then get hyped up for the USA game two days later. last nights game was the most fun game i've been to at the super pit and i also left horse (which usually only happens at fouts). justin barnett played one of the best games i've seen from him and his strength was very key in making important stops on yemi late in the game. i really liked the 1-2 punch we had with barnett and simpson on yemi in the second half. simpson could use his quickness and leaping ability to front yemi and frustrate him and then barnett came in and would bang bodies with him. incredible game!

I know that ESPN says that the attendance was about 2012 or so, but it looked like there were more people than that at the game.

Could it be that they only counted the ticket stubs that were torn??

What about the students that stayed from the womens game and didn't re-scan their ID.

Or, what about the people that stayed for the Men's game after buying a Women's ticket??

I think there were more people there than just 2012 or so

im with moffit... there were way more people than that there last night. id say the bottome bowl was at least 65% full. the student section was as full as ive ever seen it i think.

great game though. it was great to see the team come together and come back for a win. a win like that will get some of those first time fans back to more games. great win for the program!

Ditto to Moffitt and Strange......... more than 2K were there. Crowd was probably the best I have seen in a long time. At times it took the crowd a bit to get going though, its almost as if they had to have someone tell them this was an important point in the game.

WE MUST STOP WITH THE SHOOT A 3 OFFENSE. We have the guys to drive to the hole, and they do so on many occasions. I love it that we are a 3 point shooting team - but we MUST start shooting those 3's more smartly. Do so, and I can guarantee that the 3 percentage would go up.

Dissapointments- our Free throw percentage, and not passing the ball a couple of times when on a 3v1 fast break. Instead a couple of times we took it to the rack hard with 2 other teammates wide freaking open, got fouled (good), but we didnt get the bucket and then missed a free throw. I would rather get the sure 2 than the and 1, even though it creates electricity. Our biggest problem right now is not ball movement, not ball handling and protection, but it's taking the smart shots, or waiting for them to happen. Also, there were a couple of times in the 1st quarter I thought we should have dunked with 3 defenders standing there with the ball under the basket, instead of putting it off the backboard, because I think it would have drawn a foul.

Good points- I like the way we are rotating our bench during the game. I like the production from the bench. Deep team, and I only hope it gets deeper, and I am happy to see everyone can contribute. Turnover difference in this game was HUGE. We didn't win the rebound game, the Free throw game, or the field goal game. It is nice to see that we can get it done against a decent opponent in other areas when we need to. A couple of times the team really came alive and everyone in the Pit was loud and into the game. I don't think it is necessarily a problem with the crowd not wanting to get into the game, but they have to be inspired to get up and get loud, and at a couple of points last night that was what happened and it was awesome.

I am really glad that I was able to make this game. I don't get to make too many because of the night of the week most of them fall on, but this game was a treat. There are some very good things going on with the program right now, very good kids being brought in with not only the ability, but the smarts to go with it. Last night proved it. I hope we keep it up.

I think one problem with attendance, that we really don't have much control over "yet", is who the opponent is. I doubt most students, or alums, have ever heard of Univ. of Denver, and surely not as a good D-1 basketball program unless they really follow SunBelt sports or college basketball. If we were in CUSA and had Houston, SMU, Rice, Tulsa, UTEP, etc. coming in for conference games I believe we'd double our home average.

3,000 next Thursday would be awesome since appearantly we are the underdogs in that game. Yet again a huge game. But screw shooting for 3,000 I want to see the bottom FULL and creeping into the top. Lets spread the word and get people out there, seriously. that student section is fun when it gets going. i love high-five-ing random people!

I watched both games on line from Austin and they really looked good. I'm surprised the counted attendance was over 2,000. Judging from the camera shots it did not appear to be that many, but looks can be deceiving. We really need to have people behind the baskets. Whatever crowd was their sounded loud and proud!

What about the students that stayed from the womens game and didn't re-scan their ID.

That would add about 20 people. I'm just kidding, but on line it really looked like there was NOONE there for the women's game.

If this team keeps winning, people will come. Fans want to see a winner. This is especially true in basketball. Fans also want to see an exciting brand of ball and JJ lets his team jack up three's. Nothing gets a crowd rockin' like swishes from behind the arc. I'm gonna try like hell to road trip to a game in Feb.

Great game from the men and the crowd.

In all fairness to the women, it's difficult to get good attendance for a game that starts at 5pm. In addition, there was some mixup on the time, and the game didn't even start until closer to 5:30pm. Regardless, that's still way too early for anyone who drives to the game from Dallas.

By the second half of the women's game, the crowd was halfway decent. Although the women had a terrible game, when they stepped it up towards the end, the crowd started to get into it.
