6-5 329 Eric Smith. listed as one of the top 5 DL prospects in the Houston area by the Chronicle, was shown as considering North Texas among his top college choices>Now that is some size we could use in the interior DL. Also, Chronicle state top 100 rb, Remus Numbhard is still shown as considering North Texas.

I suppose "considering" is better than nothing. I would prefer to hear the words "strongly leaning" or "favores".

BTW, does anyone know if Joe Greene still retains any name recognition among the HS football players of today?

The recent 54-2, 54-7, 40-14, and 56-3 losses from this past season make more of an impact on a high school kid (and parents) about us than a player's name from 40 years ago.

If he's been recruited as a backup at other programs and we gave him the old "you can help us rebuild and start right away..." speech then he might be sold.

I would believe NT and Tulsa are the two schools he is considering. According to a recruiting bulliten both schools offer digital recording music industry program (bet you didn't know NT offerred that program, I didn't) It also said he was looking for a "good" college in a peaceful lifestyle ie not big city like Houston.

Has anyone been through Tulsa lately??????????? My wife and I went through there two weeks ago...the downtown section and freeways leading into and out of Tulsa are definately.........like Houston.

Cross you fingers on this one. However he was only 2nd team all district and may not be the player NT wants? Who knows at this time.

Actually "strongly leaning" and "favorites" would be accurate. It's between us and Tulsa. This smells to me like a time when a 50pt deficit comes in handy for them.

TexasPrep gives Smith a rating of 5.1 and does, indeed, show NT and Tulsa as high interest. Many showing an interest are not rated. So the gurus think that he will be a successful college lineman.

The same source does not show an interest in North Texas from Nembhard but that could've been months ago before contacts were made.

Both Texas Prep and Rivals show quite a few that have medium interest in North Texas, many from the Houston area. There are also some pretty highly rated prospects that did not list any favorites. I don't know if that means that they haven't taken/passed the SAT or that they are open to any offers. There are no 3-star athletes that list us but there are plenty of potential 2-star ones available.

In other words, this won't be a great recruiting class but it could be a good one if we can get a majority of those interested.
