The thing about Dickey that I don't get:

The more the guy has to work with.....the less he produces (in recruiting).

That aforementioned great 2000 recruiting class (the one with the 6-7 State 100s in it) came:

1) before he had RV as the AD.

2) way before any Athletic Center.

3) We were in a league where the bowl was in Boise.

4) We'd had no success yet (of any kind) in the Dickey era. We were coming off 3-8 and 2-9 seasons. So we definitely weren't coming off seasons of bowl appearances.

5) In 2000......had we ever been on national TV? I don't think so. We'd been on regional TV....but not national TV.

So even though he has that brand spankin' new Athletic Center, that we absolutely had to have.....expect this year's class to be as "so-so" as his last 4. Oh, it will be touted as the "greatest class ever"......but trust me it won't be.

So in eight, going on nine years, Dickey has produced one really good recruiting class(2000)? And now he has all of the SBC Championships and Bowl games for four years, in addition to SUMG's list, and we are still hoping we turn up a couple of good players each year.....???? Something is wrong with this picture.

Some of you should take a tour of Rivals (you don't have to join to do this), and see who some of the top players are committed to right now, then look at those players who have not committed, but "list" the schools they are interested in. Yes, I know it's Rivals and it don't mean squat until players sign...but.... Players show interest teams that NT should be equal to.

So, please no more posts on how great it was to win 4 conference championships in the absolutely worst conference in Division I-A and to go to the worst bowl game there is.

What else does it say about the program that when we go to the worst bowl game that we get smoked 3 out of the 4 years.

While I think the attitude of not accepting mediocrity is one of the reasons UNT won four SBC, I can assure you that ASU would be thrilled to death to win another title especially when the SBC will get stronger from here on out.

While winning another SBC title will not stroke your ego, look for UNT to be a strong contender next year in a much-improved SBC.
