Under the present setup, I don't believe that a Top 25 finish is NOT an achievable goal. Oh, it's possible but the odds would be tremendous in the Sun Belt Conference. What might be more realistic is a Top 10 finish among the "non-BCS" Division 1A members.

For us to even get near that goal, many things will have to improve. First and foremost is the coaching. The staff should inspire their players to believe that they can beat anyone. They should see that each player is dedicated and prepared for every opponent. Discipline should prevail and players removed for unsportsmanlike conduct or flagrant personal fouls.

The talent level needs to improve. We have some very good players but not enough of them. Some excellent players do not make the national recruiting gurus' list but most of them do. We need to get more of those higher-rated players.

We need to publicize and promote our program but the money must be spent wisely. Smart publicity and promotion will bring better fan support, translated into attendance and donations.

The Mean Green will need the continued support of the administration. Encourage faculty and student support of the program. Allow all Athletics Department members to do the job to the best of their ability but hold them accountable for performance.

I'm hoping all of these things will happen but it may take some time. However, programs like UTEP, UCF, Boise State, Tulsa, etc. prove that a fairly quick turnaround can happen.

I believe our school can go Top25.

DOMINATE the Belt. Blow out the other teams, kick their O in the teeth and blast holes in their D. Coach with that mindset and it can happen.

Go out against OOC teams that we're closer to and then beat them, and beat them bad at their house.

Then for the money games, even if the team loses, bloody or even break the nose of the opposition. Our D used to do that, there's no reason why it can't do that again.

Keep this up for a few years, then better players will come here with the idea that they be an underdog against big schools and start to beat them. Next thing you know, the team will more than just post close games or moral victories, they'll post real wins.
