Harry,I posted this message at another sports site that talks football,basketball,etc.

Over 200 people are sending Herb $5.00 or more. No one knows herb.Half the people don't know where North Texas State oops UNT is.

And 2 people respond here.Herb went to North Texas.A student who left a freak'in dorm to practice.He walked from Kerr hall to the mens gym that night.And has not walked since.

People are responding from all over to my post.

Would you like to call Billy Etheridge whose position is the highest non judicial court appointed employee in NYC.A North Texas grad I might add.

Send me an e-mail Harry and I'll give you Billys address.

Do people here think this is a sham.C'mon...

This site is the one that should have 200 letters going to herb.And can some of you vets from North Texas come in here and acknowledge the story.

Herb got a black and white TV from North Texas.Coach Robbins took a picture of him and herb getting the the TV.It made the front page of the Dallas Morn News.

And thats it...nada since.

Please Harry...there's cheer leading posts here getting more attention then this.I'm proud of my alama mater.I worked my way up to be a principal of a HS in NY.North Texas is the reason I made it this far.

C'mon...Harry e-mail me.please.Round the troops.

I sent some money yesterday. But, if you want to help your cause, and give it more legitimacy:

1) Give your actual name and the year you graduated from North Texas.

and

2) if there's some other sports website where others are responding to the cause......give that website's address on here. You know the one, where you said over 200 people have responded. If you posted that site's address on here,

then UNT fans could go and check it out.

Like I said.....I took you on your word. (and sent some money to Herb). I'm just letting you know what I'm hearing from others who haven't sent money.

I also took you on your word, 125'th Street Gang, and sent a Christmas card and some money to Herb. You just seemed to know much about what I recall hearing many years ago on his story.

BUT............. please, please, please understand this really doesn't have to do with you or the great Herb Larkins, but rather some horror stories from other $imilar $ituations that went south very quickly. Our society (unfortunately) is one that is suspicious and untrusting of most other fundraising situations. Heck, there are people who won't give to the Salvation Army or Goodwill because they don't always feel their money will get to those who have the real needs.

Harry is a most fair-minded person that you may want to email and with the 2 of you talking (via telephone) on this project so we can really do somthing real big with it (because from all appearances and hearsay, I don't think UNT ever really did help Herb Larkins back when all this unfortunate situation happened with him). The fact remains is that he is part of the Mean Green family and his extended Mean Green family (who can) should rise to the occassion when one of its members is (and has in the case of Herb) been hurting for decades on his most unfortunate tragedy.

So please do email Harry from his GMG.com email address and please consider talking to him on this, I think its very important that that contact be made.

Thank you all for helping.I e-mailed Harry and gave him some backround info on me.I'm sure he'll come back in here and tell everyone I'm ok.I do undertand people and there are so many shams out there.But not to many that fell in love with a Bruce hall co-ed,have 4 children,and have lived great lives.

I'm proud of my school.I give to the alumni and sports teams.I worked for Dr Bailey in intramurals for yrs.Being a PE major had Cornelius,Coach Maughan,Miss Angel[folk dance]

My favorite teacher was Coach McCain[football ast.] Had Elizebeth Ann Duke in English 101. Now I'm going to turn the tables on you people out there.Who was she.What happened to her.Why was she famos?

Anyway please send something to herb.Again no names.Maybe say "your guardian angel from North Texas".

I know of over 200 people sending him money.I will give you an update on his reactions.Yest. the 1st 20 letters arrived.Today and the next few days the "tidal wave will hit".What a x-mas gift to one of the nicest,kindest person on the face of the earth.His life in a small way will change.

I'm surprised that no vets like me belong to this site.If so many would come in here and recall Herb Larkins.

Again thanks to those that did trust me and already sent something.I can retire from my postion next yr in education.My wife said when she moved up here from Texas in 1974 I promised to retire in Texas.I miss the sonic,jake in the box and the best hamburgers in the world..LaSalle's.They changed the name..forgot.Over by the highway to Argyle.
