Dion Dowell a UT forward has told coach Rick Barnes that he plans on transfering due to lack of playing time. JJ has done good with getting transfers from big time schools(UT, LSU, ARK) to come here. This would be another great pick up.

Did I hear he was going to Rice or was that a Texas football player?

It would be nice to have players transfer FROM a big XII school rather than TO a big XII school. Thanks, Vic.

From Fort Bend Owl on the CUSA board:

Dion Dowell, a 6-6 small forward who was a national top-50 recruit out of high school, is apparently transferring to Rice at mid-semester. He'll be eligible for C-USA play next year and have 1 1/2 years remaining at that point. We're not going to be a postseason team this year but I like our chances for minimum of NIT next year with a 1-2-3 punch of Almond, Williams and Dowell. We only lose 2 seniors this year and both are replaceable.

It's not a done deal yet but Dowell was on the local radio today saying he is transferring to Rice.

Dowell is transferring to UH but was originally rumored to be going to Rice.

Did UNT do well in fall (and spring to date) recruiting? I was impressed with UNT's team and your facilities. If you win a few games like UH at home and A&M on the road, your team could really take off with confidence. You can still do it with a strong streak of wins. The SunBelt is pretty tough but I look forward to JJ pulling out a SB Title and NCAA berth in the near future. Eat'em Up!

We are pleased with these signings:

Rivals

But the best may be our transfer from Arizona State, Keith Wooden, a 6' 9" 245lb. power forward.
