UHouston telephone call re tickets to their Bowl

I received a recorded telephone call this afternoon requesting that I purchase tickets for the UH game in the Ft. Worth Bowl this year.

I'm sure it was made because I received my MBA from U of Houston a long, long time ago and they still have me on their alumni list, even though I haven't joined or contributed to UH and because I live in the DFW area...south of Arlington in Mansfield.

Just another publicity effort to encourse their fans to go to their games. NT could take notice.

My father, a grad from Texas A&M, received phone calls from the NT ticket office before all four bowl games. He attended both the first and second game. He got a call from an actual person, who also tried to get my dad to buy season tickets. Dad said she was so convincing, he almost got tickets. If my parents' schedules worked out a bit better, they probably would.

      This is what I call a “growth game.” This is the kind of game Hodge can use the film from to show the team the razor thin margin between winning and losing against the best teams in our league. If we are who we hope we are, our team walks away from this knowing we CAN beat anyone come conference tourney time, we just have to execute.

      plus let's not forget a Haggerty prayer from 30' going in. we're likely not into the foul game in the last minute or so without that bucket

      Great game, Memphis is a good team and this one came down to the end. However I am still baffled by UNT's inability to inbound the ball, this is a trend that has been going on for a few seasons now. There were several times today that they would inbound the ball directly into a corner trap, many of those instances resulted into a turn over.

      On the road with no scoring from our leading scorer. I love these guys effort. This is fixable when we see them in conference Tourny!!

      Mean Green Fall At No. 21 Memphis, 68-64

      The Mean Green (10-4, 1-1) got a career performance from senior big man Moulaye Sissoko who poured in a career-high 17 points on eight shots and grabbed a game-high eight rebounds in the four-point defeat. North Texas’ Brenen Lorient scored a team-high 18 points and was one of four different Mean Green players to score in double figures. Senior Jasper Floyd had 11 points to go along with a season-high six assists. UNT outrebounded the nationally ranked Tigers (12-3, 2-0) 30-21and forced them into 15 turnovers and just seven assists. “If you have told me we would force them into 15 turnovers and just seven assists and outrebound them by nine I would have really liked our chances,” said head coach Ross Hodge. “But it was that stretch in the second half where we didn’t handle their press well and we ended with 16 turnovers. We’ll regroup together and get better from this together.” The Mean Green have a quick turnaround as they host Rice on Wednesday at Super Pit at 8 p.m. CT. UNT is 8-0 at home this season. The game will be broadcast on the Mean Green Sports Network, presented by Learfield and ESPNU.
