I was hoping to hear that we were about to sign (out of a JUCO) the second coming of Nick Zuniga or Brian Waters.

I was also hoping that we were about to sign (out of JUCO) the second coming of Michael Pruitt, or Evan Cardwell, or Booger Kennedy.....or even (for those who remember) Rex Johnson.

I'm happy that we have someone with "great potential", like Mr. Wilson. But unless we SERIOUSLY address our DL concerns, and to a great extent or OL concerns, Mr. Wilson had better work on lowering his 40's time from 4.6 to about 4.4 or 4.3. Otherwise he's going to get more than a collarbone injured while he's out there running for his life.

In the coming months I hope to hear reports that ALL of our OL and DL have taken up residence in the weight room. If not, then I hope to hear that the coaching staff has encouraged them to leave.

Unless we get some serious help in the mid-term signings, then the only way we are going to get significantly better is through more time spent in the weight room.

Well said!!! Maybe they should spend a little more time at the dinner table as well.

Recruiting season is not over, yet.

That's true. But the part of the recruitment season (mid-term JUCOs) that will give us the most immediate help is almost over.

Maybe when word gets out that we have a QB with "great potential", it will encourage some "on the fence" lineman to sign-up. wink.gif

      Rule Changes to NCAA Football

      If I am not mistaken, the NFL deducts sack yardage from passing stats. It may give a more accurate picture of rushing and passing offense. It doesn’t change total offense.

      Should we add Texas State to the AAC?

      As in, right now? If a school leaves and we need a replacement, I see them as a solid candidate. But I don't think we need to add them just to add them.

      I think they would be a solid addition and a fun road trip for both us, Rice and nUTSAck.

      Rule Changes to NCAA Football

      Hate thinking that we need more rules but something they have to address is the players that are faking injuries bro slow down the momentum of another team and the ones that are just straight out flopping onto the ground to try and get a penalty thrown against the other team.

      Mean Green Host Rice Wednesday Night

      DENTON – The UNT men’s basketball team hosts American Athletic Conference undefeated Rice Owls Wednesday night at the Super Pit. The Mean Green (10-4, 1-1) and Owls (11-4, 2-0) are scheduled to tip-off at 8 p.m. CT. The game will be broadcast on the Mean Green Sports Network, presented by Learfield and on ESPNU. UNT has won the last two meetings against Rice and eight of the last 10. Wednesday will be the first time the two teams have played in Denton since 2023. The Owls are under the leadership of veteran head coach Rob Lanier who is in his first season as Rice’s head coach after serving as SMU’s head coach from 2022-24 where last year he led the Mustangs to a 20-win season and split their series against North Texas. Lanier also served as the head coach at Georgia State (2019-22) and Siena (2001-05). Rice enters Wednesday’s game having won its first two league games of the year. They opened with a 70-64 road win over Tulsa on New Year’s Day and a 68-55 home win over Charlotte on Saturday. After Wednesday night’s game the Mean Green have a six-day break before facing East Carolina on the road on Jan. 14.
